Traditional Greek Salad

The key to getting this one right is the quality of your ingredients, and when it comes to salads in general it really does make such a difference to the flavour if you pay a bit more for those tomatoes. We’ve managed to buy reasonable quality ingredients for this Greek Salad whilst still staying within budget, but it’s useful to know that many supermarkets offer a ‘Greek Style Salad Cheese’ that is nearly half the price of feta cheese. And with the olives, you can go with pitted or not, it’s completely up to you.


Traditional Greek Salad

  • Ingredients

    4 Good Quality Vine Tomatoes Cut into Chunks
    1 Cucumber Cut into Chunks
    1 Small Red Onion Finely Chopped
    200g Feta Cheese Cut into Chunks or Crumbled
    170g Kalamata Olives
    1tsp Dried Oregano
    2-3tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Half a Lemon

How to Cook

1. Put the tomato, onion, cucumber, olives and feta in a large bowl.

2. Sprinkle over the oregano and a pinch of salt then toss everything together.

3. Drizzle with the olive oil and squeeze in the lemon juice and give it another stir up. 

4. Serve! Oh yes, it’s that simple but it’ll be delicious especially during a warm summer’s evening whilst enjoying a BBQ.
